Many people admire the Crazy Rich Asians star Ken Jeong but not everyone knows that he is also a licensed doctor and, in fact, originally trained to work as medical personnel and not a TV star. Today, he has become a highly celebrated comedian and movie star who is known around the world for being a very funny, versatile and really spontaneous actor. As an actor, he is best known for portraying the role of Ben Chang on Community, a popular comedy TV series. He is also known for his work in The Hangover film series in which he played the role of a drug lord called Leslie Chow, and for playing Goh Wye Mun in Crazy Rich Asians, a romantic comedy film. Ken Jeong’s Biography

Ken Jeong, whose full name is Kendrick Kang-Joh Jeong, was born on the 13th day of July 1969. The actor was born in Detroit, the largest city of Michigan, the U.S.A. but was raised by his parents in Greensboro, North Carolina. Jeong was born to parents who happen to be South Korean immigrants. In addition to growing up in North Caroline, he was also partly raised in South Korea as well.

As a child, Ken Jeong was a very active person who was always looking for something to do. He attended Walter Hines Page High School located at North Carolina. While at the school, he took part in several physical activities and sports including football. He also loved music and actually played violin in the school orchestra. When he graduated from Walter Hines Page High School, he proceeded to attend Duke University from where he graduated in 1990. After this, he went on to get M.D. at the UNC School of Medicine in 1995.

Ken Jeong is now a licensed medical doctor having completed his residency in internal medicine at the Ochsner Medical Center which is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. He practiced medicine for some time before he fully became emersed in comedy and acting. Now, even though he is a licensed doctor, he has become a full member of the entertainment industry. How ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Star Ken Jeong Went From Doctor To Comedy Star

Even though he studied medicine in school and originally trained to work as a medical doctor, Ken Jeong had always had his eyes on comedy. In fact, while he was completing his residency in internal medicine at the Ochsner Medical Center, he was also working hard to develop his stand-up comedy in the process. He eventually took part in the Big Easy Laff-Off comedy event in 1995 and emerged the winner.

After winning the Big Easy Laff-Off, Jeong moved to Los Angeles to try and utilize his potentials in comedy. He soon started performing very frequently at different comedy clubs including The Improv and Laugh Factory comedy clubs. It is noteworthy that when he first moved to Los Angeles, Jeong practiced medicine for many years and won admiration as a fine doctor while also doing comedy on the side. However, his heart was in comedy and so he eventually stopped practicing medicine to focus fully as a comedian.

Ken Jeong started performing at different comedy shows including open mic nights and also emceed at many events, catching serious attention with his witty jokes and spontaneity. He eventually began to make appearances in TV series and comedy feature movies. In 2007, he played Dr. Kuni in Knocked Up, a romantic comedy film then portrayed King Argotron in Role Models in 2008.

Jeong got serious attention in 2009 when he starred in The Hangover movie series as Leslie Chow. His performance was hailed as exceptional and he eventually won the MTV Movie Awards for Best WTF Moment. The same year in 2009, he landed the biggest role of his career when he was cast as Ben Chang in Community, a comedy TV series. He starred in the series from 2009 to 2015 across 92 episodes gaining wide acclaim.

In 2018, Ken Jeong starred in Crazy Rich Asians, a romantic comedy film in which he played the role of Goh Wye Mun. He got praise from critics and fans for his work in the film. He has also starred in many other projects so far, cementing his status as one of the funniest stars in Hollywood.
