At the precipice of the explosion of television shows, Gossip Girl was on television. It was one of the biggest television shows of the late 2000s, giving rise to a generation of talents that includes Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Penn Badgley. Another one is Connor Paolo who has starred in other projects like Electric Dreams and The Brave.

Those who remember Gossip Girl will remember Connor Paolo played Eric van der Woodsen on the show and he starred in 53 episodes across six seasons of the show. Connor Paolo Biography

Connor Paolo has the look of a man who was born into Hollywood and a careful look into his background shows that that is, in fact, the case as he was born to Jewish parents; Julia Mendelsohn and Colin Paolo on July 11, 1990. His mother, who is Russian and Hungarian Jewish, is a vocal coach and classical pianist while his father is a writer and a screenwriter.

Like the off-springs of several Hollywood personalities, Paolo continued in his parents’ industry, choosing to become an actor instead. He joined the Professional Performing Arts School in 2006 where he studied acting. He also took acting lessons at the famous Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. The extent of his desire to master his profession continued at Appel Farm Arts and Music Center.

Other academic records like his high school are unknown and he only spent a semester at New York University before he dropped out.

While it is not definite, it is known that every great actor or actress passes through theatre and that is what Connor Paolo did as he continued to mature as an actor. He appeared on a couple of stage plays, including the Broadway play, The Full Monty and Richard III, which was a Shakespearean play in an off-Broadway theatre. His second Shakespearean play was Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Outside of theatre, movies and television shows, Connor Paolo has lent his voice to the video game, Bully where he voiced the main character in 2006. He also appeared as himself in the music video for My Medicine, a song by the band, The Pretty Reckless.

Despite having first appeared on screen as an actor in 2002, Connor Paolo hasn’t appeared in as many films and television shows compared to his peers. He made his film debut as Young Sean in the 2003 film, Mystic River. His first onscreen performance and television show was in 2002 for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Interestingly he has appeared on the show as two different characters. First as Zachary Connor in 2002 and as Teddy Winnock in 2006.

His other projects include Alexander in 2004 where he appeared as Young Alexander, The Winning Season, Favourite Son, Snow Angels, World Trade Center. In television where he has made his name as an actor, Paolo has starred in other projects like Revenge, Rush Hour, The Brave, Business Doing Pleasure. He began to star in Gossip Girl in 2007 and appeared on the show 53 times as Eric van der Woodsen.

Connor Paolo is not married, but he has dated a number of women, particularly at the height of his breakout show. He has been in relationships with Addison Timlin, whom he dated between 2005 and 2006. He also dated Adelaide Kane and Alice Kremelberg between 2007 and 2011. He was also in a relationship with Janet Bailey whom he dated in 2013. At the moment, he is believed to be dating Grace Van Dien.

Is Connor Paolo Gay?

Eric van der Woodsen as played by Connor Paolo on Gossip Girl was a gay character, one that existed back when the world did not yet have a full understanding of homosexuality. This resulted in rumors and a widespread belief that Connor himself is a gay man. The rumor was eventually put to bed via a wild gesture in 2011 when he kissed his girlfriend on the red carpet of an award show.
