Also, it is not known if she has any siblings with whom she spent her early days growing up in Mount Pleasant.
Very little is known about her childhood days. This is mainly because she has not spoken much about her family and background as well as what she did as a little girl. However, according to some reports, she was a lively girl growing up and had dreams of becoming a reporter in high school.
Sara Murray attended the University of Maryland, a public research university located in College Park, Maryland. She kick-started her journalism career soon after her graduation and has since gone on to make a name for herself in that field.
Her Big Leap to CNN a Few Years After Graduation From College

While with the Wall Street Journal, Sara covered several buzzing stories for the newspaper. She covered the 2008 financial crisis for the media outfit and also covered Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, turning in report after report on new developments. She was very effective in doing this because her reports shed light on the inner workings of Mitt’s campaign’s high command.
Other popular works attributed to Sara Murray at the renowned publishing firm include the leaked confidential conversation between Mitt Romney and his big donor during his 2012 presidential campaign. Sara also covered the US Congress’ unsuccessful attempt to overhaul the U.S. immigration system in 2013, winning lots of admiration for her diligence in the field. After some time, she was promoted to work as an anchor for the Wall Street Journal’s digital network in New York.
At CNN, Sara Murray covered Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign from the onset which turned out to become nothing like her previous coverage of election campaigns. Unlike her previous experiences where the press dines and wine with the presidential aspirants in the same bus, plane, and hotel, Trump traveled separately in his own gold-plated plane, flew into events, and then flew home to New York at night. This, coupled with the fact that he worked with unknown folks from his company made it hard for her to get sources.
Apart from the stress of eating junk foods and not having adequate sleep at night, the dexterous reporter was also a victim of Trump’s vicious media attacks. During his 4th of November, 2015 interview on New Day, Donald Trump called Sara Murray an unemotional, low-key, and terrible journalist. He cited that she didn’t report accurately the crowds present at the signing of his then-newly released book entitled, “Crippled America”, held at NYC’s Trump Tower the previous day because she was absolutely terrible and never flipped the cameras to show the lines. This prompted several noted media personalities including Sara’s colleague, Christopher Cuomo, and former Fox News anchor, Megan Kelly to come to her defense.
Sara’s vocal criticism of Donald Trump once got her into trouble with Trump’s supporters. On the 17th of January 2017, Sara Murray revealed that Trump had made a controversial statement that crossed one of the limits of political speech. Her claims angered many Trump supporters and some of them decided to punish her by keying her car and even cutting her truck cables. However, this has not deterred her from her journalism work and she vowed to keep doing what she loves doing.
At the moment, Sara Murray continues to work with CNN and has grown through the ranks to become one of the network’s well-known figures.
