Who Is Chris Jansing Of MSNBC?

Chris Jansing is an American with Hungarian and Slovak ancestry. She was born in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, where she was raised by her parents Tilly Kapostasy and Joseph Kapostasy as the youngest child in a family of 12 children. She was born on the 30th of January 1957.

Growing up in Ohio, Chris Jansing went through the different stages of the American educational system from middle school to high school. When she graduated from high school and was ready for college, she attended Otterbein College where she originally enrolled in as a Political Science major. However, she fell in love with journalism while she worked at the college’s radio station and subsequently switched her major to Broadcast Journalism. She graduated from college in 1978.

Career Achievements

The love of broadcast journalism set Chris Jansing on a full life on television and she began this journey as an adult in Columbus, Ohio. Starting as an intern at a cable station, she made a brief departure from television to work in the radio station, WIPS – located in Ticonderoga, New York.

She did not spend a lot of time working for WIPS before she returned to television for WNYT. While she was at WNYT, she started as a general assignment reporter and worked her way up to become an anchor for the station’s weekend show and a co-anchor for its weekly show.

When she retires and looks back on her career, WNYT can be described as the station where she made her name as a journalist. She spent 17 years at the New York-based station and won awards like the New York Emmy Award. Her long exemplary stint working for the station eventually took her to national cable television in 1998.

She joined NBC News and worked for its channel, MSNBC as a reporter and an anchor. While she was there, she also worked on The Today Show as a substitute anchor and reprised the role for NBC Nightly News. After spending 10 years working for NBC from New York, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked in a different role as a field reporter.

After two years in Los Angeles, she returned to her position as an anchor. She then began her own show, Jansing and Company where she worked alongside Richard Lui. The show lasted for four years and eventually ended when she became the network’s Senior White House Correspondent in 2014.

Her long-standing career, which took off in 1980, reached one of its highest points in 2017 when she became the Senior National Correspondent for MSNBC. The prestigious role saw her work as both an anchor for the network’s news coverage along with being the network’s White House and Capitol Hill correspondent.

Her years of working as a journalist at the top of her game have helped her gain accolades such as her induction into the Hall of Fame of the New York State Broadcasters Association and the Best Person award from the same organization.

Who Is Her Husband?

Chris Jansing has so far only been married once and it was to Robert Jansing. Her husband, who is now her ex, is a chemist who ran an analytical chemistry laboratory. He also worked for the NYS Department of Health as a research scientist. They divorced shortly after she joined NBC in 1998.

Chris and Robert Jansing got married in 1982 and were together for over 16 years before they got divorced. While they were together, the couple never had any children.
