Talent is obviously the basic draw here but Bryce’s deep passion for acting has made her career in Hollywood an interesting one. The journey began in 1989 as a temporary character who appeared as an extra in films. Now, Bryce Dallas Howard attracts massive lead roles, endorsements, and accolades.
And what’s more, the actress has balanced her ambition with great talents, combining acting and directing just like her father Ron Howard and grandfather Rance Howard.
Her Age and Rise to Fame
Bryce is the daughter of Cheryl Howard Crew and Ron Howard. She was born on March 2, 1982, in Califonia. Ron is a reputable filmmaker and actor. But then, it was Bryce’s paternal grandparents Rance Howard and Jean Speegle Howard that set the blazing trail for the family in the show business as actors.
Howard was raised alongside her younger brother, Reed and two younger twin sisters Jocelyn and Paige in Westchester County, New York. Like many kids, Bryce Dallas Howard and her siblings had to live by some restrictive rules stipulated by their parents. Among other things, they were discouraged from watching television but encouraged to indulge in outdoor activities. Despite this, Bryce was allowed to fill out a crowd scene in her father’s movies at age 7.
Her performance made her parents enroll her in a performing arts camp in upstate New York named Stagedoor Manor. She also attended Greenwich Country Day School but left in 1996 to complete her education at Byram Hills High School, finishing in 1999. As a teen, Howard had already found love for acting and thus saw the need to sharpen her skills. She joined New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, spent three years there before joining an acting school established by actress Stella Adler, The Experimental Wing and International Theatre Wing in Amsterdam. The actress didn’t bother returning to her old school. Instead, she joined Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s School in Chicago and also spent some time at The Actors Center in New York City.
Bryce’s road to success is less than glamorous. She spent so much time working on small films and plays having started her career as far back as 1989. Nevertheless, she didn’t struggle so much for the big break she enjoys today as luck smiled at her in 2002 after she appeared in House & Gardens and As You Like It, a 2003 William Shakespeare comedy.
The two plays gave her the career jolt she had been anticipating since coming to Hollywood and her outstanding performance drew the attention of director Night Shyamalan. Consequently, she was given a straight pass to play in the thriller The Village (2004) without having to go through auditions. Things clicked as quickly as she imagined when in 2007 she began to nab bigger budget blockbusters such as in Spiderman. This was followed by a starring role in Terminator Salvation and The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond in 2009. She also played Victoria in Twilight series. Additionally, Bryce Dallas Howard was found to be a great fit to play alongside Chris Pitt in Jurassic World, a role she played with utter expertise. Over the years, she has amassed long filmography and she appears ready to take on new projects.
Bryce Dallas Howard made her directorial debut in the short film When You Find Me. With substantial filmography and endorsements including being an ambassador for purse designer Kate Spade, Bryce has built her fortune to a whopping $15 million.
