Born in McComb, Mississippi to the delectable American author Lynne Irene Bridges and James Parnell Spears, she grew up under strict religious influences of a conservative evangelical protestant Christian family. Singing in the Baptist church choir as a child, Spears has always had a knack for singing.
Particularly fond of dancing, she began taking dance lessons as early as the age of three. Throughout childhood, Spears was considered a particularly gifted child performer as she competed and won several children’s talent hunt show, as well as state-level competitions.
