Growing up, Bonnie Bernstein attended the Howell High School where she graduated as the salutatorian of her class. She is also a member of the school’s hall of fame. When she graduated from Howell High School, she proceeded to attend the University of Maryland and eventually graduated magna cum laude with a degree in broadcast journalism.
While at the university, Bonnie was very active and took part in gymnastics. In fact, Bonnie is on record to have been a four-time Academic All-America in gymnastics. Her exploits as a gymnast also saw her receiving the Thomas M. Fields award for excellence in academics and athletics.

After some time at WXJN-FM radio, she transitioned to TV, landing another job at WMDT-TV, an ABC-affiliated TV station in Salisbury, Maryland where she was employed to work as a weekend news anchor. When she left WMDT-TV, she joined KRNV-TV, an NBC-affiliated station where she worked as the weekday sports anchor. By so doing, she became the first-ever female weekday sports anchor in Reno, Nevada.
In 1995, Bonnie joined ESPN where she served as its Chicago Bureau Chief and worked as a correspondent for different programs including Sunday NFL Countdown and College GameDay. In 1998, she left ESPN and joined CBS Sports where she worked as the lead sideline reporter for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships. She eventually became the very first correspondent ever to cover the Super Bowl XXXVIII for both network television and network radio. She also hosted different shows for CBS Sports, rising to become one of the network’s most famous faces.
In 2006, she returned to ESPN and served as a field reporter. At this time, she also worked as a college football reporter for ESPN on ABC. In April 2013, Bonnie was named the vice president of content and brand development for Campus Insiders. She now appears frequently as a guest commentator on different news networks which include FOX News Channel, NBC and MSNBC where she discusses trending sports stories with other veterans.
