Parks and Recreation is undoubtedly the show that gave recognition to the career of Aubrey Plaza who played the starring role of April Ludgate on the NBC sitcom. Following her appearance on the multi-award-winning show, the career of the Delaware native who had previously performed improv and sketch comedy gained an enviable traction. Who Is Aubrey Plaza and What’s Her Ethnicity?

On June 26, 1984, in Wilmington, Delaware, Bernadette and David Plaza welcomed the first of their three daughters, Aubrey Christina Plaza. The ethnically mixed actress was born to a mother who is of Irish-English descent and a Puerto Rican father.

Plaza attended Ursuline Academy, an all-girls Catholic school in her hometown. During her time in high school, she was active with the Wilmington Drama League and was also student council president. She went on to graduate in 2002 before enrolling at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, graduating four years later in 2006.

While in college, Aubrey Plaza took up multiple internships, one of which was at NBC Universal Studios. She also performed stand-up and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, the Laugh Factory, and The Improv among other places. Following her graduation in 2006, she made an appearance in the sitcom 30 Rock and also appeared in short films like Killswitch and In Love.

A few years after those roles, precisely in 2009, Plaza’s career took off as she landed the role of April Ludgate in Parks and Recreation (2009-2015). In addition to that, she appeared in films like Mystery Team and Funny People, opposite Seth Rogen. The praise she received for her performance as Ludgate helped her bag a number of nominations. While she was nominated for a couple of Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress, she also received two ALMA Awards nominations for Favorite TV Actress in a Supporting and Leading Role.

It further helped her land other big roles as she went on to star in films like Life After Beth (2014), Dirty Grandpa (2016), Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016), An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn (2018), and Child’s Play (2019). The actress is also known for her role in the TV Series Legion (2017-2019) where she played the role of Lenny Busker.

That’s not all, Aubrey Plaza has also taken up voice acting and production roles. She has voiced characters in films like Monsters University (2013), Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever (2014), and The Ark and the Aardvark (2019). On the production front, she has helped in producing films such as The Little Hours (2017) and Ingrid Goes West (2017).

Aubrey Plaza, who identifies as a bisexual, has been involved in a number of relationships over the years. Her first recorded relationship is reported to be with actor and musician John Gallagher Jr. The pair were said to have been 15 years of ages at the time. Her next relationship after that was with actor and singer Michael Cera, who is best known for playing young Chuck Barris in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002). The pair dated for about a year and a half after meeting on the set of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

After that relationship ended, Plaza began seeing writer and director Jeff Baena. There are conflicting reports as to when exactly the pair began dating. While a few publications have reported that they became an item in 2011, others have stated that they only started dating in 2014. Regardless, the couple has remained together ever since as they currently share a home in Los Angeles, California. They are also known to work together quite often.

Aubrey Plaza, whose distinctive features include dark brown hair and light brown eyes, is a few inches taller than the average American woman who stands at a height of 5 feet 4 inches. The Parks and Recreation actress stands at a height of 5 feet 6 inches (168 cm) and weighs around 54 kg (119 lb).
