Akiko Matsuura’s journey as a musician began when she met a man called Simon Petrovich, a guitarist who also loved music. According to reports, they met at a party which was hosted by a mutual friend and bonded immediately because of their mutual love for music and musical instruments.
In 2005, Akiko and Simon formed a band known as Comanechi. They were later joined by Charlie Heaton and began to gain some fame around the UK with their work. The band started putting out singles and staging energetic performances that caught some attention. They then released a debut album called Crime Of Love in 2009.
After some time, Akiko joined another band called The Big Pink while still a member of Comanechi and serving as their frontwoman. Finally, in 2013, Comanechi group members separated after a row among them and Akiko continued drumming for The Big Pink.
