He used to be a member of the boy band, New Kids on the Block. He joined the group at the of 13 but did not stay very long. He did, however, form another group, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. The group had a modestly successful run, releasing two albums and eight singles.

2. Mark Wahlberg has Quite the Criminal Record
Another fact you probably didn’t know about Mark Wahlberg is his very troubling past. Before turning his life around, he had very wayward teenage years, with multiple run-ins with the law.
He has up to 25 incidents on his record with the Boston Police Department. One of the standout incidents was an assault on a Vietnamese man, who was left permanently blind in one eye. For the attack, he was sentenced to two years in jail but only spent 45 days in prison. Despite a failed attempt at seeking a pardon, the crime remains on his record to this day.
3. He Did A Lot of Cocaine and Dropped Out of High School
To say the formative years of Mark Wahlberg’s life was a very busy time would be an understatement. In the same year he joined his first music group, New Kids on the Block, he got addicted to cocaine and dropped out of school.
While he eventually beat his cocaine addiction, Mark did not earn a high school diploma until June 2013, when he was 42 years of age.

5. Mark Supports Same-Sex Marriage
